Are you kidding me? Of course we are!
Do you honestly think Carrie and I could go into the jungle and NOT get lost?
Let's start at the beginning...
We set off down the river in a wooden boat, we landed on a sandy beach and proceeded to climb up tree roots to make our way into the jungle. Once inside we made our way to the canopy walkway...the longest one in the world!
Our guide was a fearless leader at this point :) Making sure we watched out for leeches and pulled them off Carrie's leg for her!
No worries yet...
The canopy walk was incredible...walking through the top layer of the rainforest and getting to see and smell everything. Check out our pictures!
After the canopy we proceeded up the mountain climbing tree roots to two different lookout points. The top point was at 344 meters! The view was amazing and of course we made it look all the better :)
Afterwards our guide pointed down the path and said, "stay straight". He stayed behind to help some slower trekkers while Carrie and I marched onward. Big mistake on his part right? Had he known us...he would have probably kept us on leashes...
We continued walking down the only path we saw, "Carrie, does this look familiar to you?" "Um..yes Sam I recognize that tree right there". "Really, cause there are like 100 trees just like that one all around...we ARE in the Jungle." Five minutes later...the path ends...uh-oh...
Yes, I had a complete meltdown and tears came to my eyes. Carrie...trekker extrodinair pushed onward and assured me we would make it back safely :)
We raced back up the hill, found where we missed our turn-off. We corrected our mistake and continued back to our beach to catch the boat. Just in time to see our guide pull away...leaving us stranded on the beach...IN THE JUNGLE!
ALONE!
40 mintues later.....
HE RETURNS :)
We made it back safely just in time for a nice meal of...chicken fried rice!
For those of you keeping track...that was the 2nd time we were lost in 4 days...
