The schools here are set up differently than ones in the US, the teachers rotate between classrooms and the children stay in the same room all day. Which means teachers can teach only 1 section a day or they can teach every section...it just depends on their specific schedule. This also meant that we could pick the subjects and grades we wanted to teach. I am teaching two different 4th grade English classes, a 3rd grade math class and a 3rd grade science class...very very fun! It makes the day go by very quickly when you have a few hours of planning time built right into your school day! Class sizes range from 35-45 students, which is huge compared to the US, but nothing compared to my classes in South Africa.
My school day starts at 7:30 and ends at 1:30...which means I am getting prepared for my schedule at Thomas Stone. Carrie is in the evening session at her school, which means her day starts in the afternoon and goes until 7!
We will post some pictures as soon as we can, just wanted to let everyone know what we've been up to!
